Inking’s a bitch. Although I can say it’s one of the rewarding parts when you’re drawing, especially when you see the final polished piece. But it’s not easy work, it’s gruelling and painstaking work. You have to make sure every stroke you do is final, since it’s going on the paper permanently (unless you like to use white correction ink a lot), and not to mention the steady hands you need to make sure the lines to stray away and they don’t look crooked and rough.
After my recent drawing exercises, I now how a different level of respect to inkers. I salute you, inkers of the world.
Also, here’s the recent sketches I did in the past few days.
Manhunter and Dr. Doom. These were basically inking practices, since I spent more time inking them and trying to figure out where to put the shadows and shinies. Also, the first one to find the anatomy error gets an internet ticket!

I had no idea inking was that hard. I was always reminded of the joke in Chasing Amy about inkers just being tracers.

true, inking is really a chore to do, i still feel that my pencil work is stronger (excess lines adding more depth) than me inking my stuff. i veer away from inking as much as possible but in the end it really is vital if one wants his work to have that feel of finality in it.

Yeah, I get that. I do prefer doing them in pencils, but my pencils aren’t that tight, so it looks very rough and sketchy. So either I work on tightening my pencils, or work on doing pretty decent inks. And besides, inked pieces look more finished and polished.
